Israel opens Gaza Dams without Warning, Floods 80 Homes and hundreds displaced

 

Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday first hours have opened the floodgates of Gaza valley dams East Gaza to discharge the accumulated water, with no prior warning, flooding about 80 homes in Al-Mighraqa area. In Gaza Valley, flood water levels rose to almost three meters, people evacuated the area in cooperation with the civil defense after Israeli authorities opened several dams. Residents of eastern Gaza reported injuries as well as adversely affect local agriculture and deaths of livestock and poultry Gaza's Civil Defense spokesman said: "Israel opened water dams, without warning or given any notice, causing serious damage to Gazan villages near the border. More than 40 homes were flooded and 80 families are currently in shelters as a result." If Israel opens more dams, further harm could be caused, Civil defence spokesman warned, noting that the flood water was flowing from Israeli territory through the Gaza valley and into the Mediterranean Sea. He added.
