ISESCO condemns anti-Muslim racist statement by EU Parliament member
The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) condemned on Tuesday the racist statements against French Muslims made by the ex-French minister and a member of the European Parliament Nadine Morano.

In a talk show aired on the 2nd French channel, Morano stated that she find the increasing Muslim numbers in the French society “alarming”, urging for the "preservation of a Christian France", IINA reported.

The Director General of ISESCO Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri said that such racist statement should not be issued by a member of the European Parliament, and that a member of the parliament should oblige the international rules regarding respect for human rights, cultural and religious diversity among other aspects.

Al-Tuwaijri urged the Council of Europe and the European Parliament to condemn these remarks, saying that they are against the Universal Declaration of human rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) was established by the member states of Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in May 1979. With 52 member states, ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science, and culture. Its headquarters are in Rabat, Morocco.

Its objectives include strengthening and promoting and consolidating cooperation among Member States (OIC) in the fields of education, science, culture and communication, technology within the framework of Islamic values and ideals, consolidating understanding among Muslim peoples, and contributing to the achievement of world peace and security, particularly through education, science, culture and communication.
