Indian Apex court banned Homosexuality


Indian Supereme Court has declared that homosexuality is illegal and reversed Delhi High Court's 2009 order which had de-criminalized homosexuality for the first time in India. Indian Muslims and have welcomed the ruling given by apex court to criminalize homosexuality, seeing it a step to preserve the Indian traditions and culture. The Supreme Court verdict will maintain the culture of this country, All India Muslim Law Board member Zafaryab Jilan told media. “We cannot make law on the basis of some people. homosexuality is not only a problem for Muslims community, but also as well as for Hindus and Christians. It was an offence and therefore it should also continue to be an offence in future. It is a welcomed judgment. Jilan commented on India’s Supreme Court verdict, to make gay acts illegal in the country. Before 2009's ruling, homosexuality was illegal and punished by sentences ranging between ten years jail up to life term, according to section 377, a 1861 British colonial law..
