Council of Islamic Ideology rejected the Women Act 2006

Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has rejected the Women Safety Act 2006 declaring it controversial and contrary to the Quran and Sunnah. The act was passed during Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s tenure. The meeting of Islamic Ideological Council was chaired by Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani to discuss Women Rights Act 2006 and other important matters. Rejecting the Act, Council said, "Because Women Act 2006 has been made on the will of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) andmost of the sections of the Act were against Quran and Sunnah, that is why it is essential that the Act should be reviewed and were not officially approved by the CCI and in this regard recommendations will be sent to federal government soon. According to details, under Women Safety Act, sexual abuse was declared as bailable offence and police, too, were not allowed to interfere in the matter. Islamic Ideological Council has also opposed old people shelter homes as views that it could be disastrous for an islamic family system..
