28 more militants killed in air strikes NWA

The military authorities on Sunday stated that 28 local and foreign militants were killed in air strikes when fighter aircraft hit hideouts in the remote mountainous Shawal Valley of North Waziristan early Sunday. The fighter aircraft pounded six separate hideouts of the militants in the forest-covered Shawal Valley, a mountainous area that divides North Waziristan and South Waziristan. According to military officials, the militants were displaced from Mir Ali and Miranshah as a result of the military operation launched against the local and foreign militants in North Waziristan on June 15. After losing their sanctuaries in Mir Ali and Miranshah, the militants had reportedly established hideouts in the Shawal Valley. There was no information about the identity of the slain militants and the group they were affiliated with. The military has started movement towards the Dattakhel subdivision of North Waziristan, which is considered a stronghold of Taliban commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur and his militants. On Saturday, the military authorities said they had cleared Boya and Degan areas of the militants and were on their way to Dattakhel to restore the writ of the state there.Security forces have lost over a dozen soldiers during the military operation so far. They, however, didn’t face major resistance from the militants in North Waziristan as feared before the launch of the offensive. In an earlier statement, the ISPR said Operation Zarb-e-Azb was progressing as per the plan and terrorists were being eliminated and dislodged from their bases..
